Father and son who died in fiery crash are remembered at New Kent vigil

NEW KENT, VA (WWBT) -

At a vigil Monday night, a New Kent father and son were remembered by family, friends and classmates after they were killed in a fiery car crash over the weekend.

Virginia State Police shut down Route 5 in Charles City County Sunday morning for hours after they say, the driver of a 2004 Ford F-150 was traveling westbound and ran off the right side of the road. The driver overcorrected and ran off the left side of the road striking a tree. The vehicle then burst into flames.

Family says, 19-year-old Jayme Street was in that car and his dad, 38-year-old Warren Lewis was the driver.

At New Kent High School, where Street graduated in 2012 and his dad graduated in 1994, the men were remembered. Jayme for his spirit and Warren for his good-hearted nature.

"Jayme had these beautiful eyes and this bright smile that just captivated everybody," said cousin Angela Hathaway. "Warren was so good-hearted and a great guy. You could always count on him for a laugh."

While the family members have identified Street and Lewis as the victims of that car crash, their names still haven't been officially released by state police.
