Police in Shelton planned to resume an investigation Tuesday into who and why someone shot a 15-year-old boy while he was riding his bike over the weekend.

Kristjan Ndoj remained in critical condition Tuesday after police found him lying in a driveway on Agawam Trail suffering from gunshot wounds to the head and leg Saturday.

According to police, officers were called to the scene at about 8:45 p.m. Saturday. Kristjan was transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Police said Kristjan, who is a sophomore at Shelton High School, was planning to meet up with a group of teenagers before the shooting.

"He went to go visit that girl I guess, that's what I heard," one neighbor told Eyewitness News. "The dad was like, 'She's not here right now, you can wait outside,' and he was like, 'All right,' and someone shot him."

On Monday morning, investigators, including Environmental Conservation Police officers, said they've been focusing on a wooded area across from where Kristjan was shot. ENCON police were there because they specialize in hunting accidents and might be able to determine from where the shots came.

Investigators said they do not yet know if the shooter knew the victim or if the incident was random. They are also looking into the possibility that he was threatened before the shooting, but investigators could not elaborate on that information.

Police said they stepped up security at Shelton High School with extra uniformed police officers on hand as a precaution.

"Our thoughts and prayers go out to Kristjan and his family. As you can imagine, this is a very somber day at Shelton High School," said Beth Smith, who is the headmaster at Shelton High School.

Smith said there have been no threats to any students, schools or staff.

"My youngest daughter says she knows the young man who got shot," said John Rivera, of Shelton. "It strikes a little close to home."

Smith said there was also a crisis team in place in case students needed to talk to someone.

Kristjan and his older brother, Elvis, moved to Shelton from their home in Albania, according to the Shelton High School yearbook. In the yearbook, it states one day, when they retire, they'd like to go back.

On Monday, investigators were conducting interviews and re-interviewing people about the shooting. Police also took photographs and ran string to show bullet paths.

"We want to do re-interviews, talk to people and figure out why and who," Shelton police Lt. Robert Kozlowsky said.

Kozlowsky said the initial emergency call came from the homeowner on Agawam Trail.

Detectives from the Shelton Police Department and the State Police Major Crimes Squad are investigating.

Anyone with any information is asked to call the Shelton Police Department at 203-924-1544.
