Lockdown at New Britain High School lifted

NEW BRITAIN, CT (WFSB) -

Officials placed New Britain High School into a lockdown for precautionary reasons after a robbery was reported in the area, police said.

Police are investigating an armed robbery near the high school, which is located at 110 Mill St., Mayor Erin Stewart tweeted.

The robbery was a package store at 268 South Main St. aroudn 2 p.m. The suspect fled the scene on foot. No one was injured during the robbery, police said.

As a precaution, administration placed New Britain High School in lockdown. Students were not dismissed at this time while police investigated the robbery.

The school tweeted that "students and staff in the building are not in any immediate danger."

The lockdown was lifted just before 3 p.m. and students were dismissed.
