Governor to welcome UConn team home at Bradley airport

STORRS, CT (WFSB) -

The governor will be waiting to welcome the University of Connecticut men's basketball team to arrive at Bradley airport Tuesday afternoon. 

The Huskies defeated the Kentucky Wildcats 60-54 to win the national championship.

The team will travel from Dallas at about 12:45 p.m. and are expected to land at Bradley International Airport at about 3:45 p.m.

Gov. Dannel P. Malloy and Lt. Gov. Nancy Wyman are scheduled to be at Bradley International Airport to greet the team.

There will be "no public event at Bradley International Airport," but the players and coaches will be taken to Gampel Pavilion in Storrs.

At Gampel, there will be a pep rally, which will be free and open to the public.

The doors for a pep rally will open at 4:30 p.m. with the team scheduled to arrive at the UConn campus in Storrs at about 5 p.m.

UConn head coach Kevin Ollie along with others are expected to speak during the pep rally.
