A 2-month-old child is in critical condition on Monday evening, and Hartford police are investigating the incident.
Police were called to 798 Capitol Ave. for "a report of an unresponsive baby" around 1:15 p.m.
Dannie Sears is the godmother of 2-month-old Adore Marie Daniels. She said something terrible happened at the baby's apartment this afternoon.
"When the mother brought her downstairs to me, she was scared," Sears said. "She didn't know what happened to her child, when. I looked at her and touched her and saw her eyes going to the side and she didn't look right. She wouldn't respond and so I called 911."
Daniels was rushed to Connecticut Children's Medical Center with life-threatening injuries, including bleeding on her brain. Sears said Adore had surgery and is still fighting.
The incident is under investigation by the Hartford Major Crimes Homicide Unit and Hartford Police Special Investigations Division.
