Mesa PD: Pawn shop trafficked stolen items

Posted: Updated:

Police said a Mesa pawn shop was dealing almost exclusively in the trafficking of stolen property before officers moved in with an undercover operation.

A police spokesman said officers arrested 16 people and seized hundreds of guns, numerous vehicles, cash and thousands of other stolen items in the recently concluded Operation Bonded Ammo.

The Organized Retail Crime Association helped police identify items stolen from Target, Walmart and Kroger stores, the spokesman said.

Mesa Police Chief Frank Milstead scheduled a 2 p.m. news conference to release more details.

No other information was immediately available.
