CT airport authority gives pre-approval to firm

An industrial electrical manufacturer and distributor has received an early approval to open a facility in the recently created Waterbury-Oxford Airport Development Zone.

Gov. Dannel P. Malloy announced Monday that the Connecticut Airport Authority okayed its first pre-application for a business seeking to locate in the zone, created in August 2013. In the zone, firms that acquire or lease an idle facility, or build, substantially renovate or expand facilities are eligible for tax incentives.

Autonomy Technology Inc. plans to sell, manufacture and distribute medium voltage switchgear, generator connection systems and cable assemblies to eastern seaboard customers. The company already operates facilities in Oregon, Alaska and Nevada.

The company plans to create about 18 to 20 new, full-time jobs at the Oxford location over the next two years.
