The event raises money for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society that
provides services to people living with multiple sclerosis.
FOX19's Kelly Rippin is the emcee of the event. Kelly is reporting live on Saturday's FOX19 Morning News from the event.
"Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a potentially debilitating disease in which your
body's immune system eats away at the protective sheath (myelin) that covers
your nerves," the Mayo Clinic says. "Damage to myelin causes interference in the
communication between your brain, spinal cord and other areas of your body."
The disease doesn't have a cure. The Mayo Clinic says people with multiple
sclerosis may lose the ability to walk or speak clearly.
Health.com says famous multiple sclerosis patients include Montel Williams,
Ann Romney and Neil Cavuto.
