SPRINGFIELD, MA (WSHM) -

Police are calling it a grisly injury.

They said 29-year-old John Rosado, who works at the Old San Juan Bakery, got his arm caught in the store's dough breaker machine around 5 a.m. on Saturday.

CBS 3 media partner Mass Live and The Republican reported that Rosado's arm was mangled up to his bicep.

He was able to call police from his cell phone.

It took firefighters about an hour to pry open the machine once they arrived.

Rosado was then taken to Baystate Medical Center for surgery.
