Stonington student identified as victim of Amtrak strike

PAWCATUCK, CT (WFSB) -

A Stonington High School student has been identified as the victim in a deadly Amtrak strike Friday night.

Police have identified 18-year-old Megan Briggs of Pawcatuck as the victim.

According to police, Amtrak officials notified them they had struck something on the tracks in Pawcatuck near the Palmer Street crossing. Stonington and Amtrak patrol units discovered a female had been struck and was dead at the scene.

Police continue to investigate the incident.
