New Haven cops investigating early morning shooting

NEW HAVEN, CT (WFSB) -

Police in New Haven are investigating after a city man was found suffering from multiple gunshot wounds near 260 Davenport Ave. at about 3:30 a.m. Sunday.

According to police, Courtney Malcom, 41, was found with gunshot wounds to his legs, arms, abdomen and foot.

Police said Malcom told them he was the victim of a robbery. Malcom said the shooter confronted him outside. Malcom was taken by ambulance to Yale - New Haven hospital, where he was admitted for treatment. He is listed in critical condition.

Detectives are investigating this crime and whether it may be related to an illegal after-hours club found to be operating at that address.

Police are following up on several leads in this case. One witness provided detectives with a description of a possible suspect.

Police said the suspect is described as a light-complexioned young black man who is thin and tall. The suspect is said to have worn brown cargo pants and armed with a black pistol. The witness said the suspect fled the scene on foot.
