A Seminary woman was arrested Tuesday night following an accident involving her vehicle.
Police Chief Michael Kelly says Megan Harvey stopped at the Ramey's on Main Street just before closing time. She left her two-children, ages six and seven, in the car and left the car running. While she was in the store one of the children accidentally put the vehicle in reverse and it rolled through the parking lot, jumped the curb and came to a stop in the middle of the road. When the officers arrived they found a small quantity of marijuana in the car.
Besides child endangerment, Harvey was charged with possession of marijuana, driving under the influence, and no liability insurance. She was released on bond later that night.
"Two times this week we had to bring people in on child endangerment charges, we take it very seriously," said Kelly. We have to be the advocate and spokesperson for these innocent children especially when their parents are making decisions that put the children in harms way such as drinking and driving or smoking marijuana impaired and driving."
The two-children were not hurt and were released to their grandmother.
