AMHERST, MA (WSHM) -

A 19-year-old dean's list UMass student allegedly broke into a home on Main Street early Saturday morning and fell asleep in a bunk bed beneath a child.

It is unknown when the man actually entered the home, but police responded to the residence about 6 a.m. after a mother found him sleeping in the bottom bunk bed. When police found the man he was still asleep, according to Amherst Police Lt. Ronald Young.

Police charged Zackary J. Zeigler, 19, of 241 Main St., Norfolk, with breaking and entering, trespassing, disturbing the peace and being a minor in possession of alcohol, Young said.

Zeigler, who is a sustainable food & farming major, is scheduled to graduate in 2017, according to UMass.edu.

He was arraigned in Eastern Hampshire District Court in Belchertown Monday morning where he pleaded not guilty to the charges he faces, according to our media partner MassLive.

While no one was injured, authorities believe alcohol consumption contributed to Zeigler's alleged criminal acts, Young said.
