Police said James Millett, of East Haddam, led police on a pursuit from Portland to East Hampton during the pursuit the vehicle rear-ended an animal control van in Portland. Mitsubishi crashed into a ditch and rolled over near Flatbrook Road.
After the crash, Millett and his passenger, Theresa Goss, of East Hampton, were taken to area hospitals with serious injuries.
Millett was arrested on Monday and charged with several crimes including reckless driving, first-degree reckless endangerment, disobeying the signal of an officer and operating a motor vehicle without a license.
Millett, who was in prison on unrelated charges, was scheduled to be arraigned at Middlesex Superior Court on Monday.
