HARTFORD, CT (WFSB) -

Police are searching for the people responsible for spray-painting part of a playground built in honor of a Sandy Hook victim.

Investigators are trying to determine if the vandalism at another park in the Capital City could be connected to what occurred at Elizabeth Park in Hartford.

Ana Grace Marquez-Greene's purple playground at Elizabeth Park in Hartford was hit by vandals on Sunday.

Letters that look like "B-E-K-S," a peace sign, the number two and the words "Sandy Hook" were spray-painted across a sign at the playground.

It was minor vandalism, but police noticed it. They took to Twitter to look at who could have done it.

Eyewitness News also noticed graffiti that looks similar in Bushnell Park in Hartford. Police haven't said whether it's related.

A total of 26 playgrounds are being built in honor of the 26 victims of the Sandy Hook massacre. It's taken countless volunteers, donations and contractors to put it all together. The playgrounds are estimated to cost about $100,000.

Ana Grace's was the 18th playground built.

Department of Public Works was set to clean up the mess at Elizabeth Park on Monday. Now they don't have to.

"It's just silly and childish and hopefully they find them and it stops," Alison Schlueter said.

There are no surveillance cameras in the area.

If you know anything about who may have damaged the front sign, you can call the Hartford Police Department.
