An Upstate white supremacist couple admitted to killing a Union County man, and his wife, because he was registered sex offender as they were sentenced to life in prison.
FOX Carolina was in court where Jeremy Moody and Christine Moody pleaded guilty to two counts of murder, two counts of kidnapping, two counts of possession of a firearm during a violent crime and first-degree burglary.
The couple was seen smiling during their hearing and Jeremy Moody called out the victims' family, saying "See you perverts later, that's what a child molester should get."
On July 22, 2013 a neighbor called 911 about 8:40 p.m. and wanted deputies to check on the residents in a home on Furman L. Fendley Highway and that is where officers found Gretchen Parker, 51, and Charles Parker, 59, shot to death.
The victims were shot with a .380 handgun at close range and stabbed, according to Sheriff David Taylor.
Taylor said surveillance video helped them identify and arrest Christine Moody, 36, and Jeremy Moody, 30, in connection with the Parkers' deaths.
In bond court after their 2013 arrest, Christine Moody told FOX Carolina that Charles Parker was a "pedophile" and a "demon." The Moodys reportedly claimed to be members of a white supremacist group, Crew 41.
According to the sheriff, Jeremy Moody told deputies he killed Charles Parker because he was a registered sex offender and planned to kill another registered sex offender on his list Wednesday had he not been caught, Taylor said. Taylor said Gretchen Parker was killed because she was married to Charles Parker.
According to the State Law Enforcement Division website, Charles Parker was listed as a registered sex offender, convicted in 2003 of third-degree criminal sexual conduct involving a 31-year-old woman. North Carolina court records show Parker was also convicted in a sexual assault case involving a child in 1991.
Solicitor Kevin Brackett identified the couple as neo-Nazis in court. Jeremy Moody, who claimed to be a White Nationalist Skinhead in his self-published book Yesterday, Today, & Forever, said in court Tuesday he was the "right hand of God" ordered to get rid of sex offenders.
Moody's doctor testified Tuesday he was in church Sunday morning before killing the Parkers.
The couple entered the courtroom Tuesday smiling, according to FOX Carolina reporter Adrian Acosta.
The Moodys' defense attorneys asked for 30-year sentences due to their clients' mental problems at the time of the deaths, but since then claimed they had found God and felt remorse for what had happened. Christine Moody read from the Bible during the hearing, Acosta said.
However, the judge sentenced the Moodys to life in prison and said "I saw you smiling at each other in court."
