Amherst School officials are once again warning parents in the town of a threat.
According to a letter sent to CBS 3 Springfield from an Amherst parent, Principal Mark Jackson said a note was found at Amherst Regional High School on Wednesday containing a sentence referencing that the author would bring a weapon to school on Thursday.
No one was named as a focus in that threat, but according to the principal's letter, a teacher who has been a recent victim of racist graffiti at the school was named.
Jackson goes onto write that the Amherst Police Department has launched an investigation and school will go on as usual Thursday with a heightened police presence.
The Amherst Regional School system has been dealing with threats and racist remarks over the course of the last several months, including the suspension of a student who claimed to have brought a weapon to school.
No weapon was ever found.
