One dead, one hurt after motorcycle crash in Carter County

CARTER COUNTY, TN (WJHL) - One person is dead and another hurt after a crash in Carter County Saturday afternoon. The crash happened around 3:30 p.m. on Highway 321 in Hampton.

According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol, five motorcyclists were traveling together. A THP report states one of the motorcyclists, Jason Ramirez, 31, of Bristol, Tenn., passed the others at a high rate of speed while going around a curve and hit an oncoming vehicle head-on.

Ramirez's motorcycle then fell back into the path of the other motorcyclists, hitting the bike of Paul Grant, 46, of Butler, Tenn. Both motorcyclists were ejected from their bikes. Grant was hurt and Ramirez died at the scene.

The driver of the oncoming vehicle was not hurt and no one was cited or charged in the crash.
