TOLLESON, AZ (CBS5) -

A 23-year-old Tolleson woman is facing multiple assault charges after allegedly pointing a rifle at a 3-year-old girl, the young girl's mother and a third person in an apartment complex.

Police said Megan Romo knocked on an apartment at the San Lucas Apartments in the 8700 block of W. Van Buren Street on Tolleson about 2:40 p.m. Monday and the 3-year-old opened the front door. Romo allegedly pointed an assault rifle at the girl who then closed the door.

As her mother went to the door to see who was there, Romo also pointed the rifle at the mother and said she was looking for a man. He has not been identified.

Another woman heard the noise and ran up to the unit to see what was happening because her daughter was inside the apartment sleeping. As she approached the front door, Romo pulled a 12-inch butcher knife from her waist line and was holding it in the other hand, waiving it around, according to the police report.

Romo was arrested on two counts of assault, two counts of interfering with judicial proceedings, one count of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and one count of child abuse, the police report states.

Romo requested an attorney present for her interview with police.
