CROMWELL, CT (WFSB) -
Brendan Steele led the first round of the Travelers Championship at the TPC River Highlands in Cromwell on Thursday.
Steele is in the clubhouse with the early lead at -8. Just one stroke behind Steele are Bud Cauley and Scott Langley with -7. Chad Campbell and Joe Durant are tied for fourth and are back two strokes at -6.
Trevor Immelman recorded the second albatross on the PGA Tour this season. It came on hole 13 from 246 yards.
Tournament officials reported it was the first double eagle since Travelers became the title sponsor of the event.
The first eagle of the day came from Charley Hoffman. Officials said he holed a shot from 108 yards on hole two.
Steele also started his round with an eagle on hole one and a birdie on hole two.
