Golf is obviously the main attraction this week at the TPC River Highlands in Cromwell, but there are plenty of other things to do. Every year, the officials at the Travelers Championship add events for families to do especially those who would like to improve their own golf game.
Eyewitness News met a number of families on Thursday. They said they came to watch golf, but also to check out the fun zone.
The fun zone is right in the middle of the course and you would be surprised on what you can learn to do.
Rock climbing is not exactly what you would expect at a premier golf event, but it's at the Travelers.
"I think it is a family event. It's a lot of fun. The kids are having a great time," said Julia Rhubin, of Stafford.
The fun zone is a small village. There are lots of booths to check out such as one where you can take your picture and win a free Club Med vacation.
Inside the fun zone, you can eat or just sit and relax. The most popular activity seems to be the chipping challenge. If you get a hole in one, $100 goes to charity. If you get on the Travelers umbrella, you get a prize.
There is also a concert stage at the TPC. There are two concerts this weekend with Little River Band performing on Friday night and Jefferson Starship playing on Saturday night. Concerts start around 7 p.m. "soon after" the last golfer finishes play for the day.
