Oncologists and researchers from across the nation gather for third annual CTCA Review

CHICAGO, June 27, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Cancer experts from across the country will gather in Chicago on Saturday, July 26 at the Trump International Hotel & Tower for CTCA Review, a medical symposium dedicated to sharing knowledge for the continuous improvement of patient care. This is the third year that Cancer Treatment Centers of America® (CTCA) has hosted the event, which features some of the nation's preeminent researchers and clinicians in the fields of hematology and oncology. CTCA Review allows healthcare professionals to openly discuss recent clinical advances and research trials in the rapidly evolving field of malignant hematology and oncology. The symposium also addresses questions and sparks discussion about varying views that have emerged from recent data presented at the American Society of Hematology (ASH) and American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) annual conferences.

"We're thrilled to provide a forum for top oncologists and healthcare professionals to share knowledge and work together towards the advancement of cancer research and care," said Maurie Markman, MD, president of medicine and science at CTCA. "It is an honor to host such an esteemed group."

Continuing medical education is offered for the conference, and attendees can choose from two tracks. An oncology track will be led by Markman, and a second hematology track will be led by Syed A. Abutalib, MD, assistant director of the stem cell transplant and cell therapy program at CTCA at Midwestern Regional Medical Center (Midwestern).  Sessions in each track will include interactive presentations, patient case studies and faculty panel discussions.

"The goal of this seminar is to help attendees better interpret recently presented data in the fields of hematology and oncology. We will review recent studies, break down the results and discuss how to incorporate the information into current practice," added Markman.
