Grammy Award winners and members of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame will be making music over Mystic Harbor this weekend.
The Mystic Blues Festival is taking over the Shipyard for the second year in a row.
With the sun shining down on Mystic Harbor, the work in the shipyard was in full swing on Friday morning. People were getting the tent ready, chairs set up, and the stage.
Beehived beauty Christine Ohlman joins the likes of the Spin Doctors, Johnny Winter and the James Montgomery Band for a blues fest.
"You have an intimate opportunity to see these artists, see them come together on stage. they're jumping up and jamming together," said Amy Leigh, who is the co-founder of Mystic Blues Festival.
Leigh and her husband got the idea for the festival last year. They brought together music, food, and art with the help of Mystic Shipyard, which is located at 100 Essex St.
"We donate the grounds, we donate the labor, certainly the time, the parking, the whole facility to pull an event like this off," said Jeff Marshall with Mystic Shipyard.
Maryellen Sharples said she will be attending Mystic Blues Festival.
"Last year, (I) didn't know that much about blues music, and recognized most of the songs they were singing we knew," Sharples said.
The profits from the weekend festival go to the Center for Hospice Care.
"These are amazing, amazing people," Leigh said. "Most of us have been touched in life by the opportunity for these folks to come in and help our loved ones with end of life care."
Of course, the setting is beautiful, but not a lot of parking at the mystic shipyard. If you come, they suggest parking at Fitch High School and taking the free shuttle.
