Pedestrian hit by a motor vehicle in Middletown died

MIDDLETOWN, CT (WFSB) -

The woman struck by a motor vehicle while crossing the street in Middletown on Saturday morning has died.

The crash occurred at the intersection of Main Street and Dr. Martin Luther King Way around 11:45 a.m.

The victim, 71-year-old Susan Thorpe, was walking northbound on Main St. and crossing Dr. Martin Luther King Way. The front of the vehicle struck Thorpe. She was brought to Hartford Hospital by LifeStar Medical Helicopter. 

According to police, the accident involved a 2002 Ford Explorer, which was operated by Leonard Palmer, 76. 

Palmer was not injured during the crash. 

The cause of the crash remains under investigation. If anyone has information about this accident they are asked to contact Officer Michael Inglis at 860-638-4063.
