EAST LYME, CT (WFSB) -

Two people were arrested Friday evening in East Lyme after police said they left two children in a running vehicle alone for more than 15 minutes.

Police responded to a grocery store on Flanders Road to find an 11-month-old and a 3-year-old in a vehicle that was running.

When police tried to open the vehicle, Andrew Froberg and Elizabeth Elliott approached the car and unlocked it.

The children were checked by fire department personnel, and the couple was arrested.

Froberg, 30, of 7 Heath St., Old Orchard Beach, ME, and Elliott, 22, of 172 Dairy Rd., Auburndale, FL, were both arrested and charged with risk of injury to a child, leaving child unsupervised and first-degree reckless endangerment.

They were both held on $20,000 bonds.
