HARTFORD, CT (WFSB) -

Police in the capital city are investigating after a man was found shot in the North End.

According to police, officers responded around 5:30 a.m. to the Auburn Street area after a report of shots fired. The department's Shot Spotter also picked up the gunfire.

When officers arrived, they found a black male in his 20s suffering from gunshot wounds. The man was taken to St. Francis and was later pronounced dead.

Sunday, police said the victim was Tyshawn Crawford, 28, of 22 Evergreen Ave., Hartford.

He had gunshot wounds to the higher part of his chest, lower neck area and was pronounced dead at 5:30 a.m. Saturday.

"All I heard was someone who was shot and the person was someone who recently got out of penitentiary, jail," said neighbor Carla Williams who said she just woke up to police activity.

As police continue to investigate and neighbors say enough is enough, the deadly shooting comes just one week before a gun buyback program in Hartford.

"It's a good community if we can get control of these guns and get them off of the street and find something for these young men to do," Williams added.

Officers from the Major Crimes Division are investigating.
