The Battle of the South tournament returned to Albany Saturday. The games are being held at Albany State this year.
The 18th annual event features a number of overseas players, former collegiate players and even some NBA D-League players. The event which features a number of teams from out of the area and state is a great financial boon for the community.
"This tournament brings a lot to the community, it brings revenue to the community," said organizer Fred Pickett. "This is a big tournament. This is our 18th year doing this tournament and your looking at 2-3,000 folks in here, 2 to 3 hotels booked up. They are eating at establishments, people are bringing their family."
The playoffs will resume on Sunday with the championship game slated for 5 p.m. All games are free of charge.
