TOLEDO, OH (Toledo News Now) -

Toledo firefighters had to jump into action to prevent a vacant house fire from spreading to a neighboring home on Sunday afternoon.

Fire crews responded to the call just after 5:30 PM.

The fire happened at a house on Newberry Street near S. Hawley St.

When crews arrived, the second floor was fully engulfed in flames.

As firefighters were containing the fire, it began to spread to a neighboring house that is also vacant.

That second fire was quickly extinguished.

Neighbors told Toledo Police that they saw a group of kids running out of the house just before the fire began.

Investigators are looking into the cause of the fire.

Toledo firefighters also responded to another fire at a home on Blanchard St. in north Toledo around the same time.

No one was home at the time and no injuries were reported.
