CLINTON, CT (WFSB) -

A mother from Springfield, MA, was arrested Wednesday evening in Clinton after workers at a local McDonald's restaurant called police concerned that she was intoxicated.

According to police, 28-year-old Michelle Dion was found in her vehicle in the drive-thru lane of the restaurant highly intoxicated.

Police said Dion had her 2-year-old child in the vehicle with her.

Dion was arrested and charged with driving under the influence and risk of injury to a child.

She is being held on a $1,000 bond and is expected to be arraigned in Middletown Superior Court on Thursday.

The child was taken into protective custody by the officers and later turned over to a family member. Police said the Department of Children and Families is investigating.
