Two people face charges in a South Windsor child assault case.
Police said they arrested Jessica Lazu-Spring, 32, of South Windsor, and 36-year-old Santos Malendez of Newington on Tuesday.
They said Malendez physically assaulted two of Lazu-Spring's children. They said in one case on July 1, he held a child to the ground, causing a knee injury.
Malendez was charged with second-degree reckless endangerment, breach of peace, risk of injury to a minor and unlawful restraint.
Lazu-Spring was arrested for failing to intervene and protect her children.
According to a warrant, she allowed the children to be exposed to an unsafe environment when her friend, Malendez, was present.
Lazu-Spring was charged with falsely reporting an incident and risk of injury to a minor.
Both she and Malendez were held on separate $80,000 bonds and were presented in Manchester Superior court on Wednesday.
