FRANKLINTON, N.C. -

A Franklin County man shot in the face two weeks ago isn’t letting his injuries keep him from organizing his music festival.

Rodney Preddy was shot in the right temple, taking out his right eye, July 13 while driving through Oxford.

Preddy, who founded the Franklinton bluegrass music festival named Preddyfest, handed out flyers to the festival while he waited for an ambulance following the shooting.

“One of the people there said, ‘No, no, buddy, don't move. Sit right still.’ But I think he got one anyway,” Preddy said.

Every year for 17 years, Preddy lets his land in Franklin County become a home for bluegrass.

“It's where a big group of people have met over the years and they come back to meet each other,” Preddy said.

Preddy is a true music lover that refuses to let the shooting change his way of life.

“It's going to go on as if I never had an injury,” he said.

Police believe Preddy got caught in the crossfire between two groups when he was hit. No arrests have been made in the incident.

Preddy said he feels OK but he still has several surgeries on the horizon.

The Preddyfest Bluegrass Festival runs July 31 through August 2 in Franklinton.
