Deadly 2-car crash on Candlewood Lake road in Brookfield

BROOKFIELD, CT (WFSB) -

Brookfield Police are investigating a two-car crash on Candlewood Lake Road on Saturday morning.

At about 10:51 a.m., Brookfield police were dispatched to Candlewood Lake Road near Kellogg Street. 

Two vehicles were involved and there were only drivers occupying both cars. 

A Subaru Outback was driving northbound on Candlewood Lake Road and crossed the double yellow center line, according to police. This caused the Subaru to collide with a Honda Pilot driving in the opposite direction. 

The driver of the Honda, a 16-year-old resident of Brookfield and the driver of the Subaru were both taken to Danbury Hospital by ambulance. 

The driver of the Subaru was pronounced dead shortly after arriving to the hospital. Their name is not being released until next of kin is notified. 

The 16-year-old driver, whose name is not being released, was not seriously injured.

Candlewood Lake Rd. was closed from the time of the crash until about 2:15 p.m. while police investigated.
