DURHAM, N.C. -

A suspect is in custody after a man was stabbed multiple times Saturday in Durham, police said.

Police said officers responded to an assault call around 4:30 p.m. in the 1300 block of Holloway Street. Arriving officers found 25-year-old William Allen, who had been stabbed multiple times.

Allen was transported to Duke Hospital for treatment of life-threatening injuries, police said. Sunday morning, Allen was listed in stable condition.

Police arrested Jamel Demario Daye, 21, on a charge of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury. He was additionally charged with felony possession of a schedule II controlled substance, obtaining property through false pretense and possession of stolen goods.

Daye is being held on a $500,000 secured bond.
