DECATUR, AL (WAFF) -

Emergency management officials in Morgan County confirmed multiple reports of flooding as strong, scattered storms caused damage in the Decatur area Sunday afternoon.

A viewer reported damage to the Citgo gas station on Sandlin Road, where the canopy to the gas pumps overturned. There were also multiple reports of submerged cars and vehicles trapped in rising waters.

Emergency officials remind motorists to "turn around, don't drown." If you see roadways under any amount of water, you are advised to turn around and seek an alternate route immediately.

In some areas, water was ankle-deep or greater. Some residents reported structural damage to their homes or apartments.

A radar-estimated 3.5 inches of rain fell in the Decatur area. In some areas, it was reported an inch of rain fell in the span of approximately 10 minutes.
