TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) - People gathered to rally and deliver a letter to Tucson Police Chief Robert Villasenor on Monday.

They are demanding Tucson Police stop calling Border Patrol during traffic stops and stop racial profiling to enforce the controversial SB1070 immigration law.

This all began on Sunday afternoon after Tucson Police pulled over a man in South side Tucson. The driver did not have a valid driver's license and according to Tucson Police he allegedly admitted to being in the U.S. illegally.  That is when TPD called Border Patrol, following protocol for SB1070.  TPD officials say officers pulled over Norlan Prado for making a wide turn.

Within minutes, dozens of protesters showed up, including two women who rolled underneath a Border Patrol vehicle to prevent it from taking off.

People showing up to the rally right now put on by the Protection Network Coalition, say what happened is a violation of their Constitutional rights and say authorities are racially profiling people.

Tucson Police Chief Villasenor said he and his officers enforce laws created by the state of Arizona whether they agree with them or not.

“What they're either failing to understand or choosing not too and requesting that we change our policy, is basically requesting that I do not comply with sb1070. I'm not in that position to do that. I'm sworn to uphold all the laws whether I agree with them or not," Chief Villasenor said Monday.
