A Connecticut state trooper was accused of driving under the influence after a crash in Ellington on Friday night.
The crash happened on Sandy Beach Road west of Jacobs Hill Road around 7:30 p.m.
According to state police, Christopher Powers, 42, was off duty. Powers failed field sobriety tests and was charged with driving while intoxicated and failure to drive right.
Powers was released on a $500 bond and his police powers have been suspended. He will be in court on August 25.
