As of 5 p.m. Sunday, mandatory water use restrictions were lifted for nearly a quarter of a million people in Hampden County.
The restrictions, asking residents of Springfield, Ludlow, Agawam, East Longmeadow and Longmeadow to refrain from outdoor water use, went into effect Thursday afternoon due to a water main break at the Provin Mountain Reservoir.
The Springfield Water and Sewer Commission told CBS 3 that the 60-inch transmission main is fixed and was brought back online at 9 a.m. Sunday.
The commission thanked residents for their cooperation and support.
