Two men and one woman have been arrested after a string of robberies in West Hartford that began late Sunday night and ran through Monday.
A victim in the first robbery was standing outside in the area of 701 Farmington Ave. around 9:30 p.m. Saturday when one suspect approached the victim, cocked his gun and demanded money.
During the robberies, the suspects "showed the victims what they thought were real firearms," said West Hartford Police Lt. Ted Stoneburner. "They were BB Guns."
According to police, two of the same suspects involved in the armed robberies broke into a home on Lowell Road.
During the incident, police said one suspect pointed a handgun at the homeowner and told the man to be quiet. This armed home invasion lasted about 30 minutes and the victim told police that he was also threatened with a knife before the suspects fled with an undisclosed amount of money.
"It scares the bejesus out of you," said Alan Kerr, who is close friends with the second victim.
Kerr told Eyewitness News that the homeowner could not hear the men enter through his unlocked rear bathroom window.
"He was in his bedroom with his ear piece on," Kerr said.
Police said they believed the armed home invasion and the armed robbery were related.
Just before 1:30 a.m., a woman was smoking a cigarette outside her home on Fennway when she told police a person approached her. While backing into her home, she saw what she believed to be a handgun.
Once inside her home, the woman called police, who responded to the area of Fennway where a police K-9 located a suspect in the bushes on South Hughland Street, who attempted to run away from the scene.
The second suspect was located in the bushes near Fennway while the third was located at a home in Hartford.
Police said the three suspects had planned to break into the home, but were stopped by the homeowner.
Police found three BB guns and seized evidence from the home invasion on Lowell Road as well as money taken during the armed robbery.
In connection with the armed robbery, 19-year-old Jaquarius Carter of Hartford, 17-year-old Terrance Clarke of Bloomfield and 19-year-old Ashley Blagrove,of Hartford, were all charged with first-degree robbery, conspiracy to commit first-degree robbery, second-degree larceny, conspiracy to commit second-degree larceny and carrying a dangerous weapon. Carter, who was found to be in possession of heroin, was also charged with brandishing a facsimile firearm.
Carter and Clarke face several more charges related to the home invasion and the incident on Fennway including burglary, kidnapping with a firearm, robbery and carrying a dangerous weapon.
Clarke and Carter are being held on $750,000 bond while Blagrove is being held on $250,000 bond.
All three will be arraigned at Hartford Superior Court on Tuesday.
