KINGSPORT, TN (WJHL) - A 92-year-old woman died when her car crashed into Fort Henry Lake in Kingsport Monday afternoon.

Just before 4 p.m., a white 1998 Lincoln Town Car plunged into the lake killing the driver identified as Inez Summers of Kingsport.

Police said Summers drove into a driveway at 3743 Hemlock Park Circle and lost control of her car "for unknown reasons," KPD spokesman Tom Patton said.  "The vehicle entered the carport, made contact with the structure, then overrode two metal retaining poles at the rear of the carport.  The vehicle exited the back of the carport, continued through the yard, crossed over the top of a retaining wall, and came to rest completely submerged in Fort Patrick Henry Lake."

Rescue divers pulled Summers body from the lake.

"Her actual cause of death is unknown at this time," Patton said.
