JESSAMINE COUNTY, KY (WAVE) – A bizarre murder investigation involving a pair of underwear is underway at a Kentucky jail.

While allowed to leave jail for a relative's funeral, investigators say Michael Jones soaked a pair of underwear in methadone before returning to the Jessamine County Detention Center. He then gave pieces of the underwear to his cellmates, including Corey Mcqueary. Mcqueary was found unresponsive in his cell and later died at the hospital.

“Contraband is a constant problem in any facility across the state,” said Jon Sallee, Jessamine County Jailer. “You can do strip searches, not allowing to bring books or any other paraphernalia into the facility. But something like this I almost impossible to catch.”

Jones faces many charges including murder.
