SPARTANBURG, SC (FOX Carolina) -

About 2,000 people showed up for possibly the final Hidden Cash Spartanburg, but only one family walked away with the prize.

The Labor Day hidden cash drop had area residents following clues posted on social media that led them to different locations around the city.

At the scavenger hunt's second to last location, people were given a piece of paper and inside was either a key or a penny.

The people then made the trip to Wild Wing Cafe where the person with a key was presented with a prize basket that included gift cards to local restaurants, spas and, of course, Wild Wing Cafe.

"What a fun way to end Labor Day. The fun part for me was trying to obey all of the traffic laws and still explain to a 4-year-old why daddy's doing what he's doing. Why we are leaving mom, and we are in a race," the winners, Joe and Angie Crowley, said.

The couple running the event, who wish to stay anonymous, said it wasn't about the money.

They said it's a way to give back to the community.
