UNIVERSITY PARK, PA (WJAC/CNN) - A Penn State student received national attention for her unusual hobby. She has made friends with a wild squirrel on campus.

Happy Valley is home to thousands of students, and it's also home to thousands of bushy-tailed creatures.

No one seems to know them better than Penn State junior Mary Krupa.

"My parents were worried you might be bullied for making friends with the squirrels. That isn't something a normal person does, but (people) seem to really love originality and creativity," Krupa said.

Krupa has earned the nickname “the squirrel whisperer,” and it's more than just a campus title. She and a squirrel named Sneezy have become internet sensations. Sneezy's Facebook page has even earned more "likes" than the Nittany Lion mascot. One German magazine even reported that Sneezy was the Penn State mascot.

Sneezy even allows Krupa to dress her up.

"As long as she has food, she is completely relaxed and really comfortable with people,” Krupa said. “She is just the most sweet, laid-back squirrel ever. A lot of people think I trained the squirrel, but I don't. She's always been like that."

At the end of the day Sneezy is still a wild animal. And when they are done playing dress up, Sneezy scampers off.
