SAN FRANCISCO, Sept. 3, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Momentum is building for Starry Night San Francisco, a new 8.5K to benefit the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation. More families and companies are getting involved, and have asked for more time to raise awareness and funds. Because the first year's success will ensure continued support for children battling one of the deadliest forms of childhood cancer, the event is moving from Aug. 23 to Nov. 8. The location has also moved from Justin Herman Plaza to Lake Merced.
More than 28,000 children in the United States are living with a brain tumor. Each of the 28,000 steps in Starry Night's 8.5K walk/run will shine light on their illness and raise funds for lifesaving medical research and life-changing family support programs.
It's easy to get involved! Register today for this fun-filled event, taking place at twilight on the shores of scenic Lake Merced.
Participants may choose to complete the 8.5K course as an individual or as part of a two-person relay team, with each team member completing one lap. Starry Night events will also include a 50-yard dash for kids, entertainment, food and plenty of fun for the whole family.
The night will close with a powerful lantern lighting ceremony to symbolize hope for a cure and to honor our Stars, children with brain tumors.
A portion of proceeds from Starry Night San Francisco will fund a family services program at UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital. The event will also honor local charity Capes4Heroes for its work to empower kids with disabilities and life-threatening illnesses.
Shine a light on kids with brain tumors today! Thank you for partnering with us to cure the kids.
