A seal found emaciated on the coast of California last year and brought back to health is among the animals featured in a new exhibit at Mystic Aquarium.

The Northern fur seal, named Ziggy Star, was rescued in April 2013 by the Marine Mammal Center in Sausalito. It was diagnosed with a neurologic condition that was seen as affecting its ability to survive in the wild.

The seal came to Connecticut in March and is now part of an exhibit featuring seals from the Pacific Northwest. Another one of the seals, named Coral, was taken in by the aquarium's animal rescue clinic with an infection in her rear flipper that required an amputation.

Northern fur seals are now protected under the Marine Mammal Protection Act as a depleted species.
