I am a 52 year old male 395 lbs. Have end stage arthritis in both knees. Steroid injections along with strict weight loss discipline is what I am currently doing. Doctor says too young for knee replacement. Any other options?

Dr. Deneene Doyker-Booth:

yes there are options... I would recommend you follow up with your primary care physican to see if you would be a candidate for the genicular nerve cooled radio frequency ablation

i have mcl in left knee people are telling me to get 3 injections of gel does it help i am on concrete floors 9hrs a day

Dr. Deneene Doyker-Booth:

I would recommend that you follow up with your primary care physician for an evaluation of your knee first to see if you are a candidate for these injections. If you are interested in discussing with a specialist the physician referral line is 860-545-1888. Hope you feel better.

I had surgery and in more pain than before will they talk about how to sleep with the pain and discomfort and is heat better than ice

Dr. Deneene Doyker-Booth:

Hi, I would recommend that you follow up with your surgeon as to what may be causing your ongoing discomfort and what the most appropriate next course of action would be. Hope you feel better..

6:10 Comment From Willie Cruz Higganum

Hi, I had a hip replacement 6 weeks ago. I seemed to recover pretty quickly and was walking with out a cane a week later but now i am having groin pains again like before i had surgery , and also seems stiff is this normal ? I was hoping to be pain free ,

Dr. Deneene Doyker-Booth:

Hi, I would encourage you to follow up with your surgeon to discuss some possible reasons for your ongoing pain symptoms and stiffness. Hope you feel better...

I have arthritis in both knees. My Dr. Suggested the gel shots, are they safe with no side affects?? How long do the shots last?ThanksBernadette

Dr. Deneene Doyker-Booth:

Hi, I would encourage you to discuss the risks and benefits of the injections with your physician. The effectivness of the injections depends on the degree of the arthritis. Again I would encourage you to discuss this with your physician to see if you are a good candidate for them. Hope that helps....

6:20 Comment From Stacey Reed

I seen a doctor a few years back and he told me I'm grinding the bone.I don't always have pain but at more times now they give out on me from time to time so my question is~ HOW long should I wait to have mine replaced after hearing that from my Dr.? Should I go get a second opinion?? From Stacey Reed

Dr. Deneene Doyker-Booth:

Hi, I would encourage you to follow up with your physician to revisit this issue, especially if you are having symptoms. And if you are a candidate for a surgical intervention, you may want to get a second opinion. If you need the physician referral line it is 860-545-1888. Hope that helps....

The nerve block you mentioned on the News this evening appears to be a temporary measure. Is the other therapy intended to reverse Osteoarthritis?

Dr. Deneene Doyker-Booth:

unfortunately, osteoarthritis is an ongoing condition. This procedure is used to minmize the discomfort associated with it and does not change the arthritis itself.

6:47 Comment From Tricia

What does this process involove? Is there a limit to it's effectiveness (i.e. Too much arthritic damage already dine to the knee)? Is there an age limit? How do you get more information?

Hi, if you are interested to learn more about the procedure you could google 'Cooled RFA' or you could call the HH Pain Treatment center for additional information at 860-696-2841
