For the first time in almost a week, the Department of Motor Vehicles branch in Wethersfield will be open for regular hours on Friday.
Broken water lines caused an electrical outage in the building on State Street. The break was caused by the cold weather, according to DMV officials.
As a result, the customer call center was closed on Tuesday and Wednesday. All road and knowledge tests were also canceled.
On Thursday, the branch was open limited hours.
The office will be open from 7:45 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Friday and from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Saturday.
"We want to thank all of our customers for their tremendous patience during this unexpected shutdown as we made repairs for the safe operation of our building for customers and employees helping them,” DMV Commissioner Andres Ayala Jr. said in a statement on Thursday.
However, people should expect long lines and consider going to the Enfield branch, which is located at 4 Pearson Way, and the New Britain office, which is located at 85 North Mountain Rd.
To reschedule a road test, people are advised to call 860-263-5700 within the Hartford area and toll-free 800-842-8222 in the remainder of the state.
