A Quinnipiac University poll says an overwhelming majority of Connecticut voters oppose more casinos.
The poll released Wednesday says that by a margin of 75 percent to 20 percent, voters are against more casinos in the state.
And by a margin of 59 percent to 36 percent, voters oppose a proposal to allow the tribal owners of the Mohegan Sun and Foxwoods Resort casinos to open smaller casinos near New York and Massachusetts. Only those 18 to 34 years old support the idea, by a margin of 54 percent to 46 percent.
Legislation is being proposed to allow up to three new, smaller casinos to help compete with casinos in neighboring states.
The survey of 1,235 registered voters from March 6-9 has a margin of sampling error of plus or minus 2.8 percentage points.
