Guilford residents were beaming with pride on Thursday, just one day after native Nick Fradiani was named America's new idol.
Fradiani, 29, was announced as the winner of American Idol Season 14 in the show's season finale on Wednesday night.
Back home, Fradiani Fever continued with the Dunkin Donuts on Boston Post Road selling "Nick" donuts.
"His father and him come into our store, so we were just so excited to see someone local and someone we knew win 'American Idol,'" Nicole Ball, who is a Dunkin' Donuts franchisee, said.
Thirteen Dunkin' Donuts in the New Haven area have sold more than 1,700 "Nick" donuts. Half the proceeds are going to a charity of Fradinai's choice.
All around town, store fronts were decorated with well wishes for the Guilford High School graduate.
"It's a big thrill for us here in Guilford," one resident told Eyewitness News.
The St. George's Church parking lot was turned into a makeshift living room with a blowup television set on Wednesday night. The church put up a big screen projection screen for all of Fradiani's supporters to enjoy.
While fans waited with bated breath for those winning words, many said they knew his talent would take him to the top.
"Seeing someone from our hometown go this far is just crazy," Bella Donadio, a freshman at Guilford High School, said. "We're all so proud that he made it through."
Eyewitness News reached out to Guilford First Selectmen Joseph Mazza to see if there were any plans to honor Fradiani. However, he said that nothing has been decided at this time.
