A mother in Denver posted a rant to Facebook about her 13-year-old daughter's racy photos and it's since gone viral.
Valerie Starks said she shamed her daughter for claiming to be 19.
"So you gotta Facebook page and you're on there with your bra on, right?" Starks said in the post.
The rant has more than 10 million views.
"We have established in the last few seconds that you're not a freak, that you don't sit at home with a bra on,” Starks continued. “You don't wear makeup."
It was a mother's fury.
“Are you 19?” Starks asked.
“No,” responded her daughter.
“No, you're 13, right?” Starks said.
This happened after she found the 13-year-old's secret Facebook profile.
"When I looked in her friends list, [there were] people requesting to be her friend who are 30, 40-year-old men because they think she's 19,” Starks said.
Starks said her daughter has done this before four other times.
"And I thought I had did enough by taking her phone and her pad last year in, like, April, and then it came down to this and I was just devastated,” she said. “So I had to teach her a lesson."
"This is going to go on her Facebook page and I want all of you to know she watches Disney Channel. She has a bedtime,” Starks rant said. “You still wear panties that say Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday."
Starks received a ton of support on Facebook, but it begged the question of how affective it is to shame someone like this.
Starks noted her parenting style is not for everyone. However, she said it worked for her child.
"She's not mad at me,” Starks said. “Her friends are not bullying her at school. She's okay, and that's what I want parents to understand.”
She hopes the video sparks conversation and spares other kids.
"Tell them you're going to be in the house all summer long reading books,” Starks said. “Tell them.”
That's what she said her daughter's fate is.
