Repeated burglaries at a liquor store in Ellington have led to the arrest of a 54-year-old man.
State police charged Kevin Burke with the crimes.
Troopers said they kept an eye on Mark's Country Wine & Liquor on Main Street after the burglary reports.
Monday night around 10 p.m., they said the burglar alarm was tripped. They said it indicated that glass was broken toward the front of the store.
Ellington officers converged on the scene and found a witness. The witness told them that a man was trying to get inside the store but fled in a green sedan. The license plate was provided.
State police traced the plate back to Burke's home on Linden Street.
After speaking with the suspect, they said they determined that he was involved with the recent burglaries. They said they also found evidence to back it up.
Burke was arrested for Monday's crime. Troopers applied for warrants for the previous burglaries.
As of Tuesday, Burke was charged with first-degree burglary, possession of burglar's tools, second-degree criminal mischief and sixth-degree larceny.
His bond was set at $150,000.
He was scheduled to face a judge on Tuesday at Rockville Superior Court.
